Managing Poor Performers

A practical workshop, which assists managers in dealing with poor performers at work promptly, fairly and legally.

What does it cover?

This interactive workshop will be designed around the organisation’s performance management procedures and ‘real-life’ case histories to illustrate each area of poor performance. It will cover the following:

Company policies

Overview of company policies on capability, sickness absence, conduct, harassment and bullying, grievance and appeals ACAS guidance on dealing with poor performers.

Performance management

How to deal with capability issues How to manage sickness absence and disability related sickness absence How to deal with misconduct and gross misconduct at work The difference between performance management and harassment or bullying How to deal with allegations and incidents of harassment or bullying How to manage grievances and appeals.

What will I learn?

By the end of the workshop, managers will be able to:

  • Understand their role within the organisation’s policies on performance management Implement the organisation’s procedures with confidence
  • Identify when to act to avoid situations escalating unnecessarily
  • Avoid legal pitfalls when dealing with performance issues
  • Recognise what aspects they can and should deal with alone and when they should request the support of HR.
