This workshop gives attendees involved in compulsory redundancy selection the opportunity to practise the skills required to be a competent assessor.
What does it cover?
It will cover the following areas:
Legal background
Definition of redundancy The legal responsibilities of the organisation in the redundancy process The principles of fair selection for redundancy and the requirement for consultation.
Overview
An overview of the selection method chosen by the organisation/ division/department and the reasons behind it
The assessment process (dependent on method chosen)
The redundancy selection criteria Evaluation and scoring method chosen Assessing individuals against the selection criteria Interview skills Note taking Evaluating and scoring evidence
Post selection
Feedback of decision to candidates Dealing with challenges to decisions.
What will I learn?
By the end of the workshop, attendees will:
- Understand their personal and organisational responsibilities when carrying out a compulsory redundancy selection process
- Have examined the chosen assessment process in detail
- Have explored what constitutes ‘evidence’ of criteria
- Understand the scoring system that will be used.
- Have explored techniques for getting the best out of the interviewee
- Have practised the skills required by carrying out a ‘mock’ assessment.
