Josie Hastings was recommended to us in 2015 to run Dignity and Respect
Josie Hastings was recommended to us in 2015 to run Dignity and Respect Training for all our staff and managers. Her sessions using actor-coaches were thought-provoking, entirely appropriate for our audience and well-received by all who attended. Josie continues to work for us to this day. We have appointed new volunteers as staff have left, and she provides the same service. Josie goes beyond the call of duty, making herself available outside of training sessions to answer any further questions from our staff representatives. She has a down-to-earth personality and knows how to get the best from people.
Josie Hastings as our Guardian of Safe Working
In 2019, the College appointed Josie Hastings as our Guardian of Safe Working. This role is independent of the management structure of the College. It provides staff with a safe conduit to report concerns regarding bullying, harassment, workload issues and any other matters that may impact on their wellbeing. In addition, Josie has provided training support to the College on equality, harassment and bullying issues since 2013 for both our employees and volunteers. She is also currently a proactive member of the College’s Equality Committee. Her expert contribution is informed by a wealth of experience and has definitely contributed positively to the College’s work. Josie is both approachable and friendly and can put our staff and volunteers at ease when discussing sensitive and complex matters.

I have frequently used the advice in Josie Hastings’s book It Stops Now!
To address and successfully overcome issues of bullying and low-level disrespectful behaviour when dealing with colleagues and staff members on the different projects I’ve managed. Her advice is sound and helped me to create high performing and respectful teams.
“Conversely, her BIFF technique enabled me to transform my relationship with a contract manager who was bullying me, and I now have an excellent working relationship with him.”

Hope and help for managers
Hope and Help for Managers. This book demystifies workplace dynamics. About the time when I was despairing that you can't say anything to anyone, Josie outlines the interpersonal principles that apply to all relationships and especially in the workplace: deal with behavior, clearly explain expectations, show consideration, include, talk straight, etc.
In a nutshell, treat people respectfully and as a manager, lead people to their highest and best behavior. Josie gives many great examples and illustrations of correct interaction for modeling and instruction.
I recommend this book for anyone that leads people whether Fortune 500 or your local vegetable co-op. 5 stars.
Practical information and tips on bullying in the workplace
Practical Information and Tips on Bullying in the Workplace. I just finished Josie Hasting's book It Stops Now and I have to admit I am totally impressed.
As a former manager of organizations large and small I appreciate the level of detail Ms. Hastings provides.
This book is filled with definitions, examples, and easy to understand steps to address and prevent bullying. She even went the extra step of providing information on the differences between many of the English speaking countries regulations and laws. I really enjoyed that.
If you are a manager or supervisor, you need to get this book, read it, and keep it handy as a reference.
